It almost seems apt to say again, as the company redesigned some of its boxes back when the GeForce 8800-series launched in November last year, however this change appears to be for the good – let’s hope it doesn’t change again in the near future, as I quite like this one. Additionally, we’ll also look at how well you can expect a typical GeForce 8800 GT to react to a bit of overclocking, as we didn’t overclock the reference cards we received from Nvidia.īox and Bundle:Since the last BFG Tech card we reviewed, the company has changed its box design. We’re going to find out how it performs compared to the reference card, as it comes with a mild overclock. Before we get to that though, we’re going to have a look at the first GeForce 8800 GT partner card that arrived in our offices – BFG Tech’s GeForce 8800 GT OC.

The GeForce 8800 GT’s launch really pushed the fact that PC gaming is in great shape right smack bang in front of us and there’s more to follow in the very near future too, as AMD is set to shake up its own graphics card range up.
It’s a sad time for me, but even despite that, there is no point in me denying that it is a fantastic time to be a PC gamer. I could list all the great games coming out (or that have come out already) this year, but it’d probably depress me, as I’d realise that I don’t have the time to play all the ones I want to (maybe there will be time in the Spring?). Something we’ve said quite a bit these past few weeks is how great this year’s line up of PC games is – it’s as if PC gaming hasn’t been in a better state than it is now. There’s oodles of performance on tap at a price point that is affordable for many and it really drove great DirectX 10 performance down to a mainstream price point. Just two weeks ago, Nvidia launched the GeForce 8800 GT and we found that it was the best bang-for-buck graphics card currently available, and probably one of the best-value graphics cards ever released. Warranty: Ten years (Europe), Lifetime (North America) Of course BFG also includes a pair of DVI-to-VGA adaptors, power adaptor for older PSUs and the HDTV dongle for component output straight from the card.BFG Tech GeForce 8800 GT OC 512MB: Manufacturer: BFG Tech

That is an increase of 10% over the standard reference core clock and should result in a noticeable performance gain over the reference speed cards.Īgain, nothing changes on the back of these 8800 GTS 320MB cards the same SLI connector and x16 PCIe connection are there.Īlso identical on the new card is the inclusion of two dual-link DVI connections and a TV output port that supports S-video and HDTV via the included dongle.īFG’s standard in box goodies consist of a high quality BFG T-shirt, outdated driver disc (though not their fault) and some stickers along with the regular installation and support information. Our BFG OC model was running at 550 MHz core clock, 1300 MHz shader clock and 800 MHz memory clock. Physically, the new 320MB model is identical to the previous 640MB 8800 GTS cards - the same PCB and cooling systems are used, there are just half the number of DRAM chips on the board. The BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 320MB card is the first of our 8800 GTS 320MB reviews this week. Because of this, all of our samples were in fact overclocked past the 500 MHz core and 800 MHz memory speeds. Unlike during the initial launch of the original 640MB version of the BFG 8800 GTS, for the 320MB launch NVIDIA is allowing its partners to overclock the cards right out of the gate. Is it worth the money to drop half of your on-board buffer?
